At Groundim XI Precision Grinding, we have built a strong reputation for providing precision grinding operations that have supported the needs of many major industries, ranging from medical to aerospace and tooling. Combining expertise with top-notch technology, Groundim XI Precision Grinding was recently contracted by a client from Oakland, California to grind a series of steel bearing inner races for an automotive application.
Using an aluminum oxide abrasive cutting wheel, we ground both the inner and outer diameters of the parts, ensuring that the products met precise client specifications for dimension. Constructed from SAE 52100 steel material, each inner race measured 2.525 inches in length, 3.2370 inches in outer diameter, and 2.8750 inches in inner diameter, with a wall thickness of .360 of an inch. After the grinding process was completed, each part weighed one pound and possessed a smooth, 16 RMS finish.
Equipped with top-notch precision grinding technology, we were able to hold an extremely tight overall tolerance of just (±) .0002 of an inch. We met a circular run out of .0005 of an inch, a parallelism and perpendicularity tolerance of .0005 of an inch, and a roundness tolerance of just .0005 of an inch. Using our advanced CNC inner and outer diameter grinding processes, we were able to grind over 100 steel bearing inner races for the automotive industry, delivering these products directly to our client's West Coast location. |
